Actiphenol
Application Notes
Actiphenol is a glutarimide antibiotic first reported in 1956 with antifungal and antitumor activity. Actiphenol is more active against coxsackievirus B3, influenza virus A, and herpes simplex virus 2 than synthetic glutarimides. The production of actiphenol and cycloheximide in Streptomyces is governed by the one gene cluster, an acyltransferase-less type I polyketide synthase.
