Application Notes

Ethyl mycophenolate is the ethyl ester of mycophenolic acid produced by Penicillium brevicompactum but devoid of the antifungal activity of mycophenolic acid. There are few reports of the biological activity of ethyl mycophenolate, however its analogue mycophenolic acid displays antitumor and immunosuppressant effects, among others. Mycophenolic acid acts by inhibiting inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, controlling the rate of de novo purine synthesis in proliferating B and T lymphocytes.
